The 2024 Major League Pickleball season award winners were announced Wednesday after fans, pickleball media members and MLP team executives cast their votes in recent weeks.

In a year that saw the league’s first-ever regular season format, these breakout stars and consistent performers were recognized for their 2024 accomplishments:

Premier Most Valuable Player: Anna Leigh Waters

No surprises here. The best women’s player in the game led the New Jersey 5s to a first-place finish in the regular-season standings and also led the 5s to a runner-up finish in the playoffs, falling to the Dallas Flash in an epic season finale last month.

Waters went 43-3 this season and won 58.26% of points.

The other nominees (in alphabetical order) were:

Anna Bright, St. Louis Shock. Bright went 38-8 and won 54.84% of points, helping the Shock earn the No. 2 playoff seed.

JW Johnson, Dallas Flash. Johnson went 33-13 and won 53.79% of points as Dallas finished third in the regular-season standings and went on a tear in the playoffs to take the title.

Hayden Patriquin, St. Louis Shock. Bright’s mixed partner in MLP went 36-10 and won 53.87% of points.

Premier Most Improved Player: Rachel Rohrabacher

Rohrabacher broke into the pro scene as a member of the Orlando Squeeze in the second half of 2023, but continued to improve this season on the D.C. Pickleball Team, which finished fourth in the regular-season standings. Rohrabacher went 32-14 and won 52.72% of points.

The other nominees (in alphabetical order) were:

Quang Duong, Texas Ranchers. Duong went 19-19 after joining the Ranchers in the middle of the season and won 50.75% of points. Duong did not play MLP in 2023.

Kate Fahey, St. Louis Shock. Fahey went 24-22 and won 50.24% of points this season. Fahey didn’t play MLP in 2023.

Augustus Ge, Dallas Flash. Ge went 27-19 and won 51.26% of points in his first year in MLP.

Challenger Most Valuable Player: Jaume Martinez Vich

Martinez Vich was dominant in the Challenger League this season, going 32-14 and winning 53.30% of his points in leading the Atlanta Bouncers to a fourth-place finish in the regular-season standings.

The other nominees (in alphabetical order) were:

Jack Munro, Chicago Slice. Munro went 32-14 and won 51.68% of points as Chicago earned the No. 1 playoff seed.

Ewa Radzikowska, Frisco Pandas. Radzikowska went 32-14 and won 53.02% of points as Frisco, now managed by The Kitchen, snuck into the playoffs as the No. 6 seed.

Chao Yi “Zoey” Wang, Las Vegas Night Owls. Wang went 26-20 and won 51.48% of points as the Night Owls earned the No. 5 playoff seed.

Challenger Most Improved Player: Eric Oncins

After not playing MLP in 2023, Oncins was a key part of a Miami squad that won the Challenger League title last month. Oncins went 25-21 and won 50.82% of his points en route to the title.

The other nominees (in alphabetical order) were:

Judit Castillo, Las Vegas Night Owls. Castillo went 26-20 and won 50.88% of points this season. She played in just four MLP events in 2023.

Todd Fought, Atlanta Bouncers. Fought went 29-17 and won 52.47% of points as a key member of the Bouncers. Fought played in five MLP events in 2023.

Allison Harris, Chicago Slice. Harris went 25-21 and won 50.14% of points this season after playing in just two MLP events in 2023.
