Junior Designer - The Kitchen Pickleball (Paid)

Location: Austin, TX (St. Elmo - in-office preferred, highly flexible)

Type: Full-time, part-time, or internship (flexible for students)

The Kitchen is the largest media brand and community in the pickleball industry, boasting over 2.2 million members, followers, and subscribers. Think of us as the Barstool Sports for pickleball.

Our content reaches tens of millions of people every month, and we’re just getting started.

The Role

We’re looking for a Junior Designer to join our Austin team and help create high-volume, high-impact content across social, YouTube, and our growing merch business.

This role is ideal for someone early in their career (or still in school) who wants real reps and hands-on experience building a fast-growing sports and media brand.

What You’ll Do

  • Design YouTube thumbnails for our channel and podcast

  • Create Instagram carousel graphics and social media content

  • Build graphics for: Product reviews, giveaways, breaking news and updates, and marketing campaigns

  • Help develop product graphics and merch campaigns, work within (and evolve) existing templates, and design systems

  • Create both high-impact visuals and simple, clean graphics depending on the need

  • Collaborate closely with founders, design team, and social team

  • (Bonus) Assist with caption writing and content ideation

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong understanding of design principles, typography, and color theory

  • Experience creating social-first content

  • Comfortable working within pre-set templates and brand systems

  • Ability to balance speed with quality - knowing when to keep things simple vs. more designed

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and reliable

  • Comfortable receiving feedback and collaborating

  • Interest in pickleball is required - you don’t need to be an avid player, but familiarity and enthusiasm for the sport is important

  • Bonus: strong understanding of what makes content perform on social platforms

Requirements

  • Based in Austin or willing to work in-office regularly

  • Portfolio showcasing relevant work (social, YouTube, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, and major social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook)

  • Students or recent graduates welcome
