Major League Pickleball St. Louis: Match schedule and where to watch

Major League Pickleball is headed to St. Louis this week for an event that has been building for months.

MLP St. Louis, which is being held at Chaifetz Arena on the Saint Louis University campus, is expected to be one of the biggest events in MLP history. The arena holds more than 10,000 spectators, so it will be interesting to see how full the stands are this weekend. The St. Louis Shock -- the host team -- have gone to great lengths to promote the event in local and national media and have done a lot of outreach in the local St. Louis pickleball community.

The franchise is owned by Richard Chaifetz and his family, with son Ross Chaifetz overseeing team operations. Richard Chaifetz is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of ComPsych Corporation, which has an office in St. Louis and is the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs.

The Chaifetz family has made numerous investments and philanthropic contributions in the St. Louis community at large, including St. Louis University’s Chaifetz School of Business, Chaifetz Center for Entrepreneurship, Chaifetz Arena, and countless technology and real estate investments.

As we've seen with multiple MLP events this season, the teams that invest heavily in their local markets have been rewarded with great in-person atmospheres. I suspect that will be one of the biggest stories of the week in St. Louis, and the home team might need the extra support with a very tough slate of matches this week.

On the court, there will be 6 Premier Level teams and all 6 Challenger Level teams in action.

Premier Level: Atlanta Bouncers, Brooklyn Pickleball Team, Chicago Slice, Columbus Sliders, Dallas Flash, St. Louis Shock.

Challenger Level: Bay Area Breakers, California Black Bears, D.C. Pickleball Team, Florida Smash, Las Vegas Night Owls, Nashville Chefs.

All matches available on Pickleballtv and the Pickleballtv App. Sunday's match between St. Louis and Brooklyn will be aired live on ESPN2 at 11 a.m. CDT.

Major League Pickleball St. Louis marquee match

Saturday, 5:15 p.m. CDT: St. Louis vs. Dallas -- We don't have to wait long for the rematch of the MLP Mid-Season Tournament final, which Dallas won 3-1. I still give Dallas the edge here, but I expect St. Louis to have a very real home court advantage with the crowd behind them. This is appointment viewing for MLP fans.
