With the move to a fall-spring schedule, this week's PPA Tour Finals serve as the season-ending championship for the top players on tour.
The event starts Wednesday in San Clemente, California, and features the Top 8 players in singles and mixed doubles and the Top 16 in men's and women's doubles, based on updated standings points after last week's Atlanta Pickleball Championships.
There are 2,000 points on the line for the winners in each division, giving those players who qualified for this event an opportunity to get their 2026-27 season off to a strong start. The PPA Tour will take a break for several months after this event as the Major League Pickleball season takes center stage over the summer.
The PPA is also running a secondary event worth 500 points for pro players who did not qualify for the Finals.
PPA Finals format
There are 2 pools in each division, each with four players or teams. Pool play will be Wednesday-Friday, with each player/team playing the other three teams in their pool once.
The top 2 seeds from each pool will advance to the semifinals on Saturday. The top seed in Pool A will play the No. 2 seed from Pool B. The finals will be held on Sunday.
For doubles, the No. 1 player in each division had the option to select their partner for the event. After that, the next player in line had the option to select their partner.
Example: In women's doubles, No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters selected No. 2 Anna Bright. No. 3 Tyra Black then had her choice of partners, and she selected No. 4 Jorja Johnson. This process continues until all 8 teams are decided.
For mixed doubles, the men selected their partners this year (the women selected partners last year). In most cases, the pairings went how you would expect, with players selecting their normal PPA Tour partners or at least players they had played with previously.
