Sure, we all love to see an ATP or an erne on the pickleball court, no matter who's pulling them off. Net cords, gravity-defying angles, and quick reflexes always get spectators cheering and players pumped up.
But there's something about pickleball that seems to conjure the unexpected. We've found some clips that prove just how unpredictable the game can be:
Don't drop against the best player in the world
It was pretty cocky for Jay Devilliers to play an offensive drop against the phenom, Anna Leigh Waters.

But if you're the OTHER best player, it's OK
As we saw above, high level players should generally avoid the offensive drop shot. But if you're Ben Johns, all rules go out the window.
In fairness, he was given a rare chance to sell a fake out after his opponent failed to get their lob deeper in the court.
The resulting shot is something we hadn't seen before and haven't seen since — and yes, in case you are wondering, this is perfectly legal:
Acrobatics to end the point
Many players are intimidated by singles, thinking it's too athletic or intense for them. Guess this guy is out to prove them right:

We've seen some heated arguments after a point, but never anything so violent as the incident after this tournament-winning point.
