The second of back-to-back PPA Tour Asia events is underway in Vietnam, and several top American pros are in the field for the second straight week.
The first two rounds of the Vietnam Cup, being held at Tien Son Sports Arena in Da Nang, were held Tuesday night (U.S. time), and the quarterfinals in each division are scheduled to be played Wednesday night.
You can catch all the action on Pickleballtv or the Pickleballtv app.
Here are a few of the top U.S.-based players who are in the field this week and how each division has played out through the Round of 16:
Men's doubles
No. 1 Ben Johns/Dekel Bar -- They are longtime friends and business partners off the court, so the vibes should be good.
No. 2 Tyson McGuffin/Eric Oncins -- They're coming off a win at the PPA Tour Asia Malaysia Cup last week and looking to make it two in a row.
No. 3 Armaan Bhatia/Zane Navratil -- They got bronze last week in Malaysia.
No. 8 Jonathan Truong/Len Yang -- They will face McGuffin/Oncins in the quarterfinals.
Women's doubles
No. 1 Kaitlyn Christian/Chao Yi Wang -- They won gold in Malaysia and rolled in their Round of 16 match Tuesday night.
No. 2 Alix Truong/Ting Chieh Wei -- They were beaten in the quarterfinals last week, but now have more matches together under their belt.
No. 3 Liz Truluck/Pei-chuan Kao -- They were opponents last week in the quarterfinals (a match won by Truluck), but are on the same side of the net this week.
No. 4 Hannah Blatt/Hsiang Wen Huong -- They easily made it through the Round of 16, but have a tough quarterfinal matchup.
Mixed doubles
No. 1 Tyson McGuffin/Chao Yi Wang -- They narrowly made it through the Round of 16, winning 13-11 in Game 3 against Len Yang and Ting Chieh Wei.
No. 2 Jonathan Truong/Alix Truong -- The siblings earned a bronze medal last week in Malaysia.
No. 3 Eric Oncins/Roos Van Reek -- They cruised through their Round of 16 match Tuesday night.
No. 4 Zane Navratil/Danni Elle-Townsend -- Elle-Townsend made the women's doubles gold medal match last week before settling for silver. She was one half of the duo that took down Anna Bright/Roos Van Reek in a surprising upset.
