If you tuned in to the 2024 PPA CIBC Finals this weekend, you quite literally witnessed the culmination of the year's best: the objective best point-earning players on the PPA Tour playing out the culmination of 2024's most exciting storylines.
To nobody's surprise, young GOAT Anna Leigh Waters took a starring role in the action, once again proving why she’s the sport’s biggest name.
We recap a few key moments and results from the CIBC Finals below:
Tyson's big break shared with Hunter
The tournament kicked off with sky-high expectations, especially surrounding the Staksrud-Johns singles rivalry. After five losses to Johns in Championship Sundays this season, could Federico finally flip the script?
He didn’t even get the chance. Tyson McGuffin, playing like he’d rediscovered his 2018 prime, not only knocked Johns out in pool play but bulldozed his way to the semifinals with unmatched ferocity:
McGuffin’s “brand-new man” energy earned him a semifinal berth, but it was Hunter Johnson who stole the spotlight in Singles, capturing his fourth gold medal in just three months:
Waters & Parenteau pull through
Women’s doubles saw some drama of its own. Bright and Rohrabacher dazzled in pool play, going undefeated and setting up a much-hyped rematch with Waters and Parenteau in Sunday’s final.
The result: a gritty four-game classic where Waters and Parenteau clawed their way to gold, locking in ALW’s second consecutive Triple Crown weekend:
JW & Gabe finally take down the Johns bros
Mixed doubles lived up to the fireworks it promised. Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters—pickleball’s reigning power duo—added yet another championship to their 2024 haul, delivering a clinic in precision and chemistry against Parenteau and Alshon in the finals.

Meanwhile, Staksrud and Hayden Patriquin closed the tournament with a dominant gold-medal win.
Fed and Hayden are on a winning streak, having played three times this year, winning each time. They're slated to play together next year and we couldn't be more stoked to see the results as they work on their partnership.
