Major League Pickleball has partnered with Polymarket to offer futures betting on who will win this year's MLP final, as well as other props.

Polymarket allows users to buy "yes" or "no" shares depending on their prediction. Buying shares is like betting on the outcome, and odds shift in real time as other traders bet.

There are four different markets that have been established heading into this week's MLP San Diego event, where the first and second round of the playoffs will be held. They are:

-Major League Pickleball winner
-Who makes NYC Final Four
-Miami Pickleball Club vs. Texas Ranchers first-round matchup
-Utah Black Diamonds vs. Orlando Squeeze first-round matchup

Already more than $2,000 had been bet into the markets in less than 12 hours since the league announced that the markets were live.

Polymarket accounts can be funded with crypto, credit/debit cards or bank transfer. There are no limits or fees. Users can sell their "yes" or "no" shares at any time, or wait until the market ends to redeem winning shares for $1 each.

For example, as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, you can buy a single share for the Dallas Flash to win the MLP championship for 36 cents. That will return $1 if the Flash win the title.

Since the market became known to the general public Monday night, the Los Angeles Mad Drops, Dallas Flash and New Jersey 5s had all seen an influx of "yes" money, while the St. Louis Shock saw more "no" money -- the Shock had been the clear favorite when the betting market was announced.

In the head-to-head matchups that will be decided in the first round, Texas has been established as a heavy favorite over Miami, and Utah-Orlando is essentially even, although not as much money had been bet into those markets as of Tuesday morning.

Polymarket has technically been blocked for Americans since 2022, although an unknown number of U.S. users have still found ways to use the platform. But the company expects to be back online this fall after a recent acquisition of another company that has the necessary license to be able to offer futures markets legally.

"The transaction marks a significant step toward expanding access to Polymarket's category-defining platform in the United States, enabling more users than ever to trade prediction market contracts with regulatory clarity and confidence," Polymarket said in a statement.

Although the lid hasn't been fully lifted yet, MLP appears to be using the playoffs as an opportunity to test out the platform in the hopes of expanding into futures markets and sports wagering opportunities in the coming years.
