It’s been a long time since a paddle release has been discussed and hyped as much as the RPM Jade.

When clips of RPM Founder James Ignatowich using the paddle started circulating over a month ago, the paddle world immediately started buzzing — Will this be RPM’s best model yet? Is the durable grit legit? How will this fit into an already stacked RPM lineup?

After testing and playing with the Jade for several weeks, we have answers to those questions and more. In our full video review we break down what makes the RPM Jade different, how it plays, how it compares to RPM’s other models, and who this paddle is best for.

RPM JADE CONSTRUCTION & SPECS

The RPM Jade uses an MPP foam core surrounded by an EVA foam ring. This is a familiar construction method that produces big power on full swings, a reliable sweet spot and long-term durability.

But the biggest selling point for the Jade is the grit. RPM used a proprietary “SICmatrix” silicon carbide surface, a durable grit that is designed to deliver elite spin and hold up even after several months of heavy play.

HOW IT PLAYS

The Jade has a softer hollow feel and its on-court performance is more balanced than you might expect. The predictable response off the face and great spin lets you play aggressively without feeling like you’re constantly fighting the paddle in your soft game.

But make no mistake: It’s still a powerful paddle and has more than enough juice to end a point when you have a good opportunity.

That’s the ultimate compliment we can give a paddle — power when you want it, control when you need it.

IS THE JADE RIGHT FOR YOU?

At $270 (15% off with code KITCHEN), the Jade is among the more expensive paddles on the market. It’s definitely an investment, but it has a lot of good things going for it.

Independent testing from paddle reviewer John Kew has confirmed that the SICmatrix grit is “Tier 1” among the paddles currently on the market.

So if you’re looking for a paddle that lets you play aggressively without sacrificing too much control — and want to make sure you’re getting a paddle that’s going to last — the RPM Jade is absolutely worth considering.
