Pickleballers Season 5, Episode 3: Why Lacy Schneemann quit rocket science for pro pickleball
Of all the people who have quit their full-time jobs to chase a pro pickleball career, Lacy Schneemann may have had the most to lose.
She worked as an engineer at Boeing (we hear you have to be pretty smart to get a gig there), and spent a year wrestling with the pros and cons of a decision that would change her life.
In this episode of Pickleballers, she tells us why she ultimately chose pickleball, and how she’s maintained her spot among the top women’s players on the PPA Tour and in Major League Pickleball ever since.

Co-hosts Roscoe Bellamy and Jared Paul also ask about her aggressive, men’s-doubles-inspired game, and what makes her one of the most versatile players on the women’s side. She explains what it actually takes to beat the best team in the world and why she thinks her forehand, when it’s on, is at the top of the pro game.
She also talks about the pressure of losing a backup income, her goal of cracking the top 5, and whether she’ll ever go back to aerospace.
