Pickleball is generating a ton of conversation at local government meetings throughout the U.S., and people are overwhelmingly speaking in favor of new and existing pickleball courts in those meetings, according to a new report.

Even though headlines over the years have focused on angry neighbors and noise complaints, the data offers a broader picture: Among speakers taking a position on pickleball courts, support overwhelmingly outweighs opposition.

Hamlet, which analyzes public meeting recordings and transcripts, counted 1,152 people in favor of pickleball courts and 89 against in meetings nationwide since Oct. 19, 2024. Those comments came during meetings in a total of 468 cities and towns — with pickleball being favored in 436 of those.
