The writing was on the wall when Jaume Martinez Vich started using an adidas paddle a few weeks ago, but the sports equipment and apparel brand made it official late last week: Martinez Vich is the latest player to join the adidas Pickleball roster of pros.

He joins Rafa Hewett, a longtime adidas player, and Mari Humberg, who also signed with the company earlier this year.

"Adidas is a brand that’s always stood for excellence, innovation and supporting athletes in pushing their limits," Martinez Vich said. "I wanted to partner with a company that not only equips me with the best possible gear but also shares my vision for growing pickleball globally. Joining the adidas pickleball family felt like aligning with a team that’s as committed to elevating the sport as I am."

Martinez Vich was using an adidas paddle earlier this month when he made a run to the men's doubles final with Matt Wright at the PPA Tour Bristol Open.

All we know for sure right now is that he was using a prototype, and we have heard rumblings of new paddles coming from adidas soon.

"Adidas is a brand know for its innovation," Martinez Vich said of the new paddle. "I had never competed or had a paddle with foam injected core. Competing with the latest technology feels great."

If the new model is good enough to help Martinez Vich get to Championship Sunday, it’s probably worth getting excited about. Be on the lookout next month for details on what’s coming.
